Regine is a UX/Product Designer based in the USA, read below her story and her aspirations as a designer:

✨Regine’s Journey

“My journey into design has been shaped by my development background, and I'm passionate about becoming the ultimate translator between design and engineering teams. Having worked closely with designers in my previous development role, I witnessed firsthand how miscommunication between these two worlds can derail even the most thoughtful design solutions, and that's what broke the camel's back for me to make the shift into design.

Where It Started 🎓

My design foundation actually started at RIT during my Web and Mobile Computing coursework, where HCI classes first introduced me to design process and user-centered thinking. That's where the seeds for projects like NaturalU were planted and where I first fell in love with the design process.

While I continued into development after school, every internship and job taught me more about design systems, UX fundamentals, and the critical importance of design-dev collaboration. Working alongside designers showed me how often brilliant creative solutions get lost in translation when they hit technical constraints that weren't considered early enough.

Bridging the Gap 🌉

Now I want to bridge that gap by ensuring designs are not only beautiful and user-focused, but technically sound from the start. Developers often speak in technical constraints and system limitations, while designers communicate through user needs and creative solutions.

I'm excited to use both languages fluently, helping designers understand technical feasibility while helping developers see the 'why' behind design decisions. I believe this dual perspective, especially as a Black designer in spaces that often lack our representation, can help create more inclusive products that are both innovative and implementable.

Looking Ahead 🚀

I'm looking forward to learning from this community and sharing my unique journey of bridging these two worlds.”
